Cross-Region (Multi-AR) RDS mirroring costing less than RDS Multi-AZ ➤ FAQ ➤ Free Trial

CLOUDBASIC Multi-AR for RDS/SQL Server Web+ is an AWS EC2 Server with pre-installed MS SQL Server Web or Standard Edition, which mirrors RDS, EC2 or On-Premise MS SQL Server database to itself (for RDS-to-RDS or OnPrem-to-RDS replication see our RDS SQL Web+ Multi-AZ-AR/Geo-Replicate product). Unlike the RDS Multi-AZ for MS SQL Server, it creates Geo-Readable-Replicas of your primary MS SQL Servers, which can be used for reporting, data-locality and off-loading of your primary databases. RDS Multi-AZ does not create Read-Replicas for MS SQL Server.

Creating of standard .bak file backups off of RDS SQL Databases, with the option to be downloaded outside of AWS (unlike the RDS snapshots) or automatically uploaded to AWS Glacier, comes standard.

The replication engine supports all versions of MS SQL Server. It comes standard with per-installed MS SQL Server Web Edition (MS SQL Standard is optional). EC2 SQL Web Multi-AZ/AR can mirror all versions MS SQL Server to the EC2 SQL Server pre-installed on the same EC2 server, including to continuously mirror geo-located RDS SQL Standard/Enterprise servers with activated Multi-AZ and Encryption.

Continuously feed data form AWS RDS SQL Server (Cross-Region/Zone) or from On-Premise to AWS RedShift for BI/Reporting with i.e. Tibco SpotFire, JaperSoft or Tableau. You can achieve MS SQL Server Data Locality, HA, and DR and feed data to RedShift data store at the same time (RedShift support is available via a managed service at no extra cost on this product version; self-service management will be featured in the next version).

Continuously feed data form AWS RDS SQL Server (Cross-Region/Zone) or from On-Premise to AWS S3, from where it can be loaded into EMR/Hadoop cluster (S3 support is available via a managed service at no extra cost on this product version; self-service management will be featured in the next version).

CLOUDBASIC Multi-AR delivers more functionality than the classic AWS RDS Multi-AZ for substantially lower cost.

five-starsDoes what it says on the box, easy to use, amazing support.

I found this tool when I was looking for a way to transfer databases between our development systems and our production systems. These comprised of a mix of in house physical SQL, EC2 SQL and and RDS. Cloudbasic Geo-replicate solved this problem.

The product improvements I asked for were implemented within days allowing me to extend our use of this product into our devops continuous delivery model.

five-starsAffordable SQL Server High Availability Solution

As a consultant I look for affordable and easy to maintain solutions for my customers. This SQL Server HA solution features a simple web interface. I did not have to worry about configuring server clusters, log shipping etc. I was able to setup a DB instance replication to a cross-region AlwaysOn RDS in minutes. I was pleasantly surprised that MSSQL Web Edition is also supported. I had to call for support related to DB issues on my end. I was assigned a dedicated support representative who proved to be very helpful. I did an extensive testing to ensure that this product is very reliable. With this product I am planning to scale up my Cloud Disaster Recovery implementation efforts.

five-starsEasy setup. Various deployment scenarios.

We were looking to utilize AWS as a fail-over site for our on-premise SQL Server based applications. We turned to the AWS Market place to find solutions to help us speed up implementation. Found this product, and within minutes were able to steam SQL Server data to an RDS SQL Server on AWS. All we had to do is enter source and destination SQL server connection strings. Then selected if we wanted a one time migration of the SQL server or also… Read ALL

five-starsWorks very well. Easy to use. Some minor issues need to be addressed.

We intended to use this software to do a one time migration of SQL databases from our co-located datacenter to AWS. Then figured it is very easy to setup continuous replication from East to West coast (AWS in California to AWS in Virginia). We currently use EC2 SQL Server Web edition in California, replicating to a small RDS Web Edition in Virginia… Read ALL

five-stars-review-on-AWS-MarketplacePowerful Yet Simple Replication Solution

The most important feature we were looking for was to be able to access the end point of the replica for our reporting. This product replicates between SQL servers manages by us. We have to ensure the destination SQL Server is used in read-only mode, but this gives us the flexibility to setup replication in various scenarios: on-prem to AWS, across AWS regions, zone-to-zone. It does seem that SQL Server Web edition is supported in all scenarios as well… Read All

Setup Instructions: Once you sign up for a free trial, you will receive an AMI ID over email. Locate the AMI ID in the list of Community AMIs and launch as an EC2 server within or outside of your VPC. Once the instance is running, and port 80 opened in the security group, connect to it by pointing a browser to the public DNS root URL (or IP) at default www port 80 (it might take a while for all services to initialize). Register and you will receive an activation key, which you need to enter on the next step to activate the instance. Login with user: admin, initial temporary password: {EC2 Instance ID} (required for security reasons) Upon successful login, you will land on the wizard page, which will allow you to initiate RDS/SQL Server replication in various scenarios, in just a few clicks. For more information, visit the Prerequisites and Get Started sections of the documentation.

Note: If the VPC does not allow public access, the activation process will switch to manual activation mode, in which case you would open an URL pointing to CloudBasic activation servers on AWS outside of your VPC. You will be asked to copy and paste back an activation code.
